Community Stuff…Again!

If you know us, you know we love our community!!

This initiative is a big win for renewable energy access in the state, especially for low-income households. Half of the energy produced will help reduce electric bills for qualified low-income New Mexicans. 

This project is a direct result of the Community Solar Act (SB84), signed into law in April 2021. The act allows utility customers to subscribe to power from renewable energy facilities under 5 MW, offering a way for those without rooftop space to enjoy solar energy benefits. 

Affordable Solar is collaborating with Gridworks, a New Mexico-based solar construction leader, to bring this project to life. The project is named after Cuidando Los Niños, a nonprofit supporting children and families facing homelessness. Affordable Solar has already donated to the organisation and plans a larger contribution upon project completion in early summer 2025. 

This community solar project is a massive step toward making clean energy more accessible and affordable for all New Mexicans, especially those in need. If you can’t see that community is extremely vital for life, Idk what to tell you bro.
