This message is for you and you alone. Top secret but not so secret.
Actually, this may be top secret because with all the inaccurate info floating around, you may not know the real tea.
Citizens Advice and Energy Saving Trust have come together and are running their annual campaign. This “madness and badness combination” is designed to empower us with practical info on reducing energy consumption and lowering household expenses.
The campaign kicks off on the 20th – 26th of January with the initiative to help UK residents (me and you bro). We’re going to learn how to combat rising energy costs and promote sustainable practices.
This event comes at a crucial time, as energy costs continue to be a significant concern for us all. It provides a platform for individuals to learn about energy efficiency, explore better energy deals, and discover ways to become more energy-efficient. The timing in mid-January is perfect, as it coincides with the UK’s cold snap, making energy-saving strategies all the more relevant.
We have a mini campaign of our own and we’re going with “heat the person, not the room”. Essentially, this means we’d like to make a move from traditional heating and use products like the Savior Heat S67E Heated Waterproof Electric Unisex Skiing Mittens and the Savior Heat SS04R Unisex Battery Heated Socks which can keep you warm and toasty without having to blow up your energy bills, or just let you walk your dog comfortably on a frosty morning. Side note: they are also currently going for under £50!
The initiative extends beyond individual households, encouraging businesses, schools, and local communities to get involved. It serves as a reminder of the collective impact that energy-saving measures can have on both personal finances and the environment. By promoting energy efficiency and responsible consumption, Energy Savers Week contributes to the UK’s broader goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
At UNDERTWOK, we are going to be taking this campaign super seriously. In the last year I have found that my consciousness has increased massively. It has been like an awakening and I just want to bring everyone on this journey, but like most awakenings, it has to be internally inspired for a change that is both sustainable and reflects on the outside.
As energy costs remain a pressing issue for many, Energy Savers Week 2025 offers all of us an opportunity to gain knowledge, implement changes, and potentially realise significant savings on our energy bills. It really gets into the importance of energy awareness and efficiency in creating more sustainable and economically resilient communities across the UK.
More important info: The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme in England, Scotland, and Wales helps households install energy-saving measures like insulation and efficient heating systems. Contact your local authority for area-specific initiatives. In Wales, the Nest scheme offers support for low-income or benefits-receiving households with inefficient homes. Call 0808 808 2244 or visit gov.wales/nest.
