Yuan Yang the MP for Woodley and Earley came into our shop for the massive launch, and she spoke about the warm homes plan for a second, just before she plugged in the sun.

The UK government has rolled out the Warm Homes Plan, an initiative designed to help households stay warm and save money while reducing carbon emissions. Announced in November 2024, the plan targets improving the energy efficiency of homes across the country, especially for low-income households, renters, and those living in older properties. With rising energy costs and the push for a greener, more sustainable future, the Warm Homes Plan is a welcome relief for many.

Key Features of the Warm Homes Plan

One of the most exciting aspects of the plan is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which offers grants of up to £7,500 to homeowners for the installation of energy-efficient heat pumps. These systems are not only more environmentally friendly than traditional gas boilers but also help reduce long-term energy bills.

The plan also focuses on supporting renters and low-income households. These groups can access funded upgrades, including insulation and low-carbon heating solutions, to make their homes more energy-efficient and reduce their heating costs.

Another great development is the simplification of planning permissions for installing air-source heat pumps in England. Homeowners no longer need to apply for planning permission for these installations, making it easier and quicker to transition to more sustainable heating solutions.

Where do we come in??

Both UNDERTWOK and the government are aligned in this plan. No one wants to be cold, you know? We launched the “heat the person not the home” campaign this past winter and are always helping you find ways to both save energy and money. Check out our products.

The Warm Homes Plan isn’t just about providing financial support; it also plays a crucial role in reducing fuel poverty, lowering carbon emissions, and supporting the UK’s commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 which is also 100% what we are into. By encouraging the use of energy-efficient technologies like heat pumps and insulation, the plan helps tackle some of the major issues facing the UK’s energy landscape today.

As the plan continues to roll out, more households will benefit from these energy efficiency upgrades, helping them reduce both their heating bills and their environmental footprint. With the promise of warmer homes and cheaper energy bills, the Warm Homes Plan is one of the key strategies in the UK’s transition towards cleaner, more sustainable energy.

Get on board bro! 🙂
