Is it an anomaly? Are people preparing for a bright summer? Are they planning to take the panels to sunnier horizons? Whatever the reason, we’re just happy to have a community that values “free” energy.
Yesterday was so warm I could literally feel the summer creeping up on me. I just know the Jackery SolarSaga 80W Solar Panel; a fan favourite, is going to be a game-changer for outdoor lovers, with its foldable, lightweight design. I’d choose it for camping, road trips, or off-grid adventures any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I also wanted to get into the International Energy Week (IEW) 2025 for a second. It’s scheduled for February 25-27 at the QEII Centre in London and is going to be an important event addressing the multifaceted challenges and opportunities within the global energy sector. Organised by the Energy Institute, this conference will bring diverse energy transitions worldwide, fostering dialogue among industry leaders, policymakers, and academics.
We all know we are not particularly headed in the best direction in terms of climate change. The global energy landscape is marked by rising consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, primarily driven by fossil fuel use.
At the same time, if you lean into the idea of the Yin and Yang, you will see that there is a massive increase in clean energy generation, particularly from wind and solar sources. We talk about it all the time on TikTok.
This growth is great but I believe it struggles to meet the escalating demand. The Paris Agreement’s objectives remain elusive; a bit like a toddler with a long winded story about their dreams the night before. Meanwhile, climate impacts are intensifying across continents highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to balance energy needs with environmental sustainability.
Our practical step is quite literally renewable energy through portable power.
Energy transitions exhibit significant regional disparities. In advanced economies, renewable energy adoption is accelerating, and fossil fuel demand is approaching its peak. Conversely, in the Global South, burgeoning populations and improving living standards continue to drive fossil fuel consumption.
IEW 2025 aims to explore critical questions shaping the future of energy:
The conference will feature esteemed speakers, including:
These leaders, among others, will provide insights into geopolitical influences on energy, technological advancements, and strategies for achieving net-zero emissions.
Beyond discussions, IEW 2025 offers extensive networking opportunities, culminating in the prestigious International Energy Week Dinner and Awards Ceremony. This event serves as a platform for stakeholders to forge partnerships, share innovations, and collectively navigate the complexities of global energy transitions. If you’re interested, you could end up chatting with some brilliant minds!
Speaking of networking, we are going to be having some conversations about this on LinkedIn. Look out for this!
As the inaugural major meeting of the global energy sector in 2025, International Energy Week promises to be a majorly key forum for addressing the pressing energy challenges of our time. By facilitating comprehensive discussions and collaborations, IEW 2025 might just contribute significantly to the development of sustainable and equitable energy solutions worldwide.
