I have recently been going down a rabbit hole on philosophy. My most recent one has been an analysis of Marcus Aurelius and the fundamentals of stoicism.

Why do I write, and why should you read?

The crazy thing about my philosophical analyses has been that at the end of the day, we all live by a philosophy that serves us based on confirmation biases and the echo chambers within which we exist.

Many of us fall into what Noretta Koertge has called “Communities of belief buddies” where we insulate ourselves from critical opinions and parrot our narratives back to each other.

Is this what we’re doing over at UNDERTWOK?? Are there some critiques against solar energy or portable energy?

P.S. If you’ve gotten this far, watch our shop and Creator House launch live here on Friday the 28th of February 2025. Pls.

Anyway, portable power solutions, especially those harnessing solar energy, have become super popular for providing electricity in various settings, from remote locations to urban vibes. We want to position these systems as the solution to meet diverse energy needs, including solar panels, portable generators, and battery storage units.

The upside to Solar Energy and Portable Power

  1. Renewable and Sustainable: Solar energy is an infinite resource that offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. Products like the Jackery SolarSaga 200W Solar Panel help reduce reliance on traditional power sources, contributing to environmental conservation.

  2. Cost Savings: The costs of solar panels and batteries are going down and we constantly have discounts. For example, Jackery and BLUETTI power stations allow you to generate your own electricity, reducing reliance on expensive grid energy. In the UK, solar panel installations can cut energy bills by about 24% for low-income households, though the high initial costs remain a challenge.

  3. Environmental Impact: Solar energy is different from fossil fuels because solar energy produces no air or water pollution. Portable power stations and solar panels reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigating climate change and promoting a cleaner ecosystem.

The downsides of Solar Energy and Portable Power

  1. Weather Dependence: Solar panels, such as the Jackery SolarSaga 200W, rely on sunlight for power generation. Cloudy or rainy weather can reduce efficiency, making solar energy less reliable in areas with inconsistent sunlight. However, pairing solar panels with the Jackery Battery Pack 2000 Plus ensures stored energy for use during low-sunlight periods.

  2. High Initial Costs: While solar energy systems lead to long-term savings, the upfront costs for panels and batteries can be substantial. Investing in a BLUETTI AC60P Portable Power Station, with its 10-year lifespan, provides long-term value, reducing the impact of initial expenses.

  3. Energy Storage Challenges: Since solar power isn’t available 24/7, efficient storage solutions like the Jackery Battery Pack 2000 Plus are crucial. These products help maintain a reliable power supply, addressing one of the key limitations of solar energy.

  4. Space Requirements: Installing solar panels requires adequate space and sun exposure. Portable panels like the Jackery SolarSaga 200W offer flexibility in placement, making them more practical for urban settings or limited-space areas compared to traditional rooftop solar installations.

At the end of the day…

Solar energy and portable power solutions offer numerous benefits, including sustainability, cost savings, and energy independence, but they also present challenges such as weather dependence, high initial costs, and storage requirements. Careful consideration of these factors is essential when evaluating the suitability of solar energy for specific applications.

At the end of the day I will say, Don’t listen to me, what do I know? And perhaps that would make me come across as more endearing to you. A show of humility might convince you to come over to my side. Either way, solar energy is way better than coal as it stands. I’m happy to debate!
