Hey guys, as we approach Chinese New Year 2025, on January 29th, I’m thinking of taking a break from all the Energy yap. So in this one, no product, less techy stuff, maybe some energy facts lol. I am who I am.

The Year of the Snake brings with it a wave of innovation and change that extends far beyond traditional celebrations. The intricate intertwining of ancient customs and cutting-edge technology paints a vivid picture of a world in transition. I’m looking forward to spending some time with my friends over the celebration and exploring a culture that is different from mine. I put up a post about this on LinkedIn  What are you going to do for Chinese New Year?

Next up

Is the rise of DeepSeek, a Chinese AI chatbot which has sent shockwaves through the tech industry. Launched in January 2025, it quickly became the highest-rated free app on Apple’s App Store across the US, UK, and China, surpassing even ChatGPT. DeepSeek’s success challenges the notion of US dominance in AI, showcasing China’s growing technological prowess despite facing chip restrictions. I have tried to sign up since Ahmed told me about it at the shop ops meeting and I still can’t!!

Interestingly, DeepSeek’s efficiency mirrors the resourcefulness associated with the Year of the Snake. Operating on the open-source DeepSeek-V3 framework, it claims to have been created for under $6 million, a fraction of its competitors’ investments. This cost-effectiveness resonates with the principles of solar energy – harnessing abundant resources efficiently and economically. (I said I’d throw in a little energy yap).

As families gather for the 15-day Spring Festival, culminating in the Lantern Festival on February 12th, the glow of traditional lanterns might remind us of the potential of solar power. Just as these lanterns light up the night, solar panels have the capacity to illuminate our future, offering a sustainable energy solution that aligns with the Snake year’s emphasis on wisdom and strategic thinking. The kind of strategic thinking that will literally save our planet.

Ps. There’s going to be lantern lighting in Reading!

The 67th round

The music industry is figuratively on fire with anticipation for the 67th Grammy Awards. Beyoncé (Queen) leads with 11 nominations, including Album of the Year for “Cowboy Carter” and Record of the Year for “Texas Hold ‘Em”. She tested out country music which I feel like represents a breaking of barriers – like how solar energy is breaking traditional energy paradigms (Lol, last one, I promise).

The Grammys also bring our new talents like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, both competing in major categories. I think it has been refreshing to experience new voices!

Traitors is wraps

Mia has constantly been talking about traitors and has recruited almost everyone, except me. I have some taste. As we bid farewell to the “Traitors” era and welcome new beginnings, we can take a second to recognise how this shift aligns with the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. The Snake’s attributes of transformation and renewal align perfectly with the solar energy revolution, encouraging us to shed old habits and embrace sustainable practices.

To wrap it up, as we celebrate Chinese New Year, marvel at AI advancements, and anticipate musical accolades, let’s not forget the underlying current of change. The Year of the Snake invites us to be resourceful, intuitive, and forward-thinking – qualities that are crucial in advancing solar energy adoption and creating a more sustainable future for all.

Please let’s save the planet you guys. Thanks for reading!

If you still wanna get into our heated socks though, check them out, you’re gonna love them!
